FruitVeB: cabbage acreage has grown, prices decreased
The cabbage acreage in Hungary increased by approximately 7-8 percent compared to last year – the president of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organisation and Product Board (FruitVeB) told MTI, the cabbage prices, however, this year are 10-15 percent lower than last year, as high import put pressure on the domestic market.
Ledó Ferenc added that the cabbage and turnip acreage has increased, while the cauliflower acreage has decreased because of the hot weather occured last summer and Hungarian cauliflower is not competitive with the Italian and French imports in the early spring period. (MTI)
