French companies are attracted by the Hungarian market
There are two important missions of the Business France office of the Embassy of France in Budapest: supporting the development of the commercial activity of French companies in Hungary and promoting Hungarian investment in France. The office’s 5-member team offers personalised services and organises events that bring French exporters and Hungarian partners together. Arnaud Zerkovitz, commercial counsellor and director of Business France told our magazine that the office was set up in 2009. They support the work of about 50 companies a year, assisting Hungarian and French businesses in staying touch with each other.

Business France
Mr Zerkovitz is of the opinion that Hungarian consumers think of imported French products as high-quality goods, especially in the categories of agri-food products, wines and alcoholic drinks, and gourmet products. Hungarian consumers also appreciate French luxury goods and know-how in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries. The Hungarian market is very attractive to French businesses: it is close to France, it is growing and it is open to culinary and cultural novelties.
Team of Business France
The most popular French products in Hungary are cheese, wine, dairy products, chocolate and premium fruit juice. Among the best-known brands we find Danone dairy products, Bonne Maman marmalade, Président cheese and Bonduelle canned products. There are many French products available in Auchan hypermarkets and gourmet shops such as Culinaris or Le gourmet de Bordeaux.
