French dairy group would buy Parmalat
The French Lactalis dairy group announced a takeover bid in a value of 3.4 billion euros for the Italian Parmalat. Berlusconi's government want to keep control of the domestic company.
Europe's largest dairy company, the French Lactalis purchased 29 percent of the Parmalat, in March.
The takeover bid of Lactalis will made to public just a few hours before Nicolas Sarkozy meets Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, where the case will surely be discussed. According to the analysts, next step may be an Italian counter-offer, but it is questionable who will make it – reports Világgazdaság Online, after Reuters.
