Our batteries were recharged in Düsseldorf

We already knew in 2008 that we would return to Düsseldorf’s EuroShop in 2011. The world has changed a lot since then (economic crisis, declining sales and demand, etc.), but 2011 can turn out to be the year of hope. The POPAI awards were presented on Sunday and I was really glad that Béflex display was one of the winners – one of the few European ones alongside the 9 Australian and 5 US winners. I was member of the jury panel, but no jurors were allowed cast their votes on works from their own country. After refreshing ourselves with a few sips of champagne, we set out for familiarising ourselves with the innumerable novelties. Chinese manufacturers had a strong and diverse presence – my favourite was the moving, multi-dimensional floor sticker. At POPAI’s central stand there were interesting presentations by experts. The whole event proved that retail is alive and developing. It is worth coming up with new ideas and using them in-store, in order to generate bigger profits for manufacturers and retailers. I did a bit of a trade visit too and what I saw in shops was that they were already offering spring collections and the Germans were buying. This was the most successful EuroShop ever and I am sure that the next one will be no worse. I hope I will meet many TM experts at the next EuroShop, as recharging our batteries by seeing the success of others can increase our own motivation.
