Northeast Europe could become the continent’s pantry, according to a study
The analysis shows that the increase in grain yields in the northeast of the continent is now greater than in any other region. The shift in the focus of production has been mainly explained by climate change, which has halved the area under maize and wheat in Italy, two-thirds in Greece and almost completely disappeared in Portugal. The adverse effects of temperature peaks are now being felt in almost all of Europe. (MTI)
