Analysts: Inflation accelerated less than expected in March
The significant rise in core inflation points to the widespread inflationary pressures, but inflation accelerated less than expected in March due to last year’s rise in fuel prices in addition to central price measures, analysts commented on March data.
According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), consumer prices in March were 8.5 percent higher than a year before. Core inflation rose 1.0 percentage point from February to 9.1 percent. Analysts expected inflation of 8.6 to 8.7 percent in March. (MTI)
