China will spend more than $1 billion improving food and drug safety

Last week, China's State Food and Drug Administration agreed with the US FDA to increase technical exchanges through seminars and training programs.

According the chineese goverment large, new laboratory would
be open in 16 harbour and in central and west region of China. The Cabinet
announced that it was drafting new rules aimed at boosting responsibility and
increasing penalties for illegal activities. China has been struggling to
convince the world its produce is safe following a series of scandals over
tainted pet food, toys, tires, toothpaste, medicine and fish.
