One year 34% price increase at Hungarian agriculture products

The price level of crops and horticultural products was 46.9% higher, while that of animals and animal products increased by 17.6%. between February 2007-2008.

 In January–February 2008 the average
price level of agricultural products was 34.9% higher than in the
same period of the previous year, which was a result of the price
increase of crops and horticultural products by 48.9% and that of
live animals and animal products by 17.7%.
In February 2008 the producer prices of
cereals rose significantly (79.4%) amid low trade turnover.
The producer prices of potatoes
diminished by 16.8% following a significant increase last year.
Prices of fresh vegetables rose by 8.1%, which resulted from the
price change of only few vegetables amid low trade turnover.
Producer prices of fruits rose by
59.2%; dominantly influenced by the producer price growth of apples
(68.1%). It is worth noting that in this period the producer sales of
the other fruits can be considered insignificant.
The producer prices of live animals
rose by 11.4%, which stems from the price increase of poultry for
slaughter (22.3%), pigs for slaughter (6.5%) and the decreasing
prices of cattle for slaughter (5.8%).
Producer prices of animal products went
up by 27.2%; within this product group the producer price of milk
rose by 36.9% and that of fresh eggs increased by 13%.

In January–February 2008 producer
prices of cereals rose significantly (by 77.2%) compared to average price level of January–February
2007. Producer prices of potatoes were down by 8.6% after an
extremely high increase rate (110.6%) registered in the first two
months of 2007. Producer prices of vegetables grew by 10.9%, while
that of fruits rose by 59.2%.

Producer prices of live animals rose by
10.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Significant price increase could be observed in case of poultry for
slaughter (21.0%), while prices of pigs for slaughter rose moderately
(4.7%). In the same period, prices of cattle for slaughter diminished
by 4.8%. Producer prices of animal products rose by 29.9%, mainly
influenced by the price increase of milk (38.4%), and that of fresh
eggs by 12.1%.
