Recycling an aluminum can costs 95% less energy than producing a new one
It can be recycled countless times, it is light, and it perfectly preserves the freshness of the drink filled in it – this is why we love the aluminum can, and of course also because it is easy and quick to recycle, and we save energy with it, thus reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
Aluminum is all around us, even if we can’t see it. Of course, it’s not hard to spot in the form of beverage cans, and if something like that comes into our hands, it’s good to know what we’re up against. Aluminum is a real asset that does not belong in the trash at all! Today, September 23, on the occasion of International Waste Collection Day, let’s think about, if we no longer need it, let’s start this feather-light little box on the road, so that it can be on the shelves again in just 60 days.
The recycling of aluminum cans naturally begins with the collection of the raw material – among other things, the machines that were installed as part of the Every Can Returns program are emptied, specifically with the aim of getting the cans to where they need to be as quickly as possible. The boxes are then separated from the other materials and then compressed into huge blocks and transported so that the recycling process can begin. Such a block can contain up to 65,000 boxes and weigh up to 1 ton!
