Romanian retail shrinks, although with decreasing tempo
According to Bucharest Statistical Office; The Romanian retail trade turnover declining with a smaller rate, for the second month. The willingness of public spending is also hindered by the slowdown in wage growth.
The annual retail sales in August decreased by 12.1 percent at annual comparisions, with a lesser extent than in July, when a 13.8 percent decline was registered by the Bucharest Statistical Office. The July data also reported a declining rate of turnover decrease, since in June turnover decrease was still 17.3 percent, on an annual basis. On monthly comparison, the decrease was 0.4 percent, compared with the 2.2 percent turnover increase of July – reports napi.hu.
