Food prices increased despite declining inflation
The average level of consumer prices was 0.4 percent lower in September 2015, than a year before, while compared with August, prices decreased by 0.6 percent – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
The prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased significantly, while the price of fuels decreased the most in the annual comparison.
Consumer prices in the first nine months of the year were on average 0.3 percent lower, compared to the same period of the last year.
The annual seasonally adjusted core inflation in September was 1.3 percent after last year’s 1.4 percent and was 0.1 percentage points higher than in the previous month. Its monthly value stood unchanged at 0.1 percent. (MTI)
