Caffè Vergnano Barista Championship
At the end of August, the domestic round of the Caffè Vergnano Barista Championship took place on Lupa Beach. In a professional competition led by the coffee expert of Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, the brand’s seven baristas compared their skills so that the winner of the competition could represent the domestic profession at the Caffè Vergnano Barista World Championship on October 17 in Chieri, Italy.
For the first time in Hungary, the professional competition of the Caffè Vergnano brand took place, in which the cream of the brand’s Hungarian baristas participated. Under the mentorship of Iván Gávris, Coca-Cola HBC Hungary’s coffee expert, the contestants prepared for the competition for 10 weeks, where they competed in the preparation of various coffee specialties and coffee-based cocktails.
Casa del Caffè Vergnano is a traditional Italian family business. The company based in Santena is one of the oldest coffee roasters in Italy, its history goes back to 1882. Its product range of premium quality, excellent coffees is the perfect symbol of Italian tradition and authenticity. The Coca-Cola HBC group of companies bought a 30% stake in the company in October 2021, and in January 2022, it was one of the first in Hungary to start the exclusive distribution of Caffè Vergnano premium Italian coffee products. In the time that has passed since then, the company has worked to introduce the excellent Italian espresso coffee culture to the Hungarian public, and to teach its hospitality industry partners who choose the brand how to make high-quality coffee drinks, so that consumers can always find the best coffee in cafes.
