Google and Amazon paid a huge price for cookies
Last December, the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) fined Google and Amazon a record amount of 135 million euros, or about 48 billion forints, for placing cookies without proper information and user consent.
This allowed users to monitor their online activity extensively. Domestic service providers and website operators can easily find themselves in a similar situation, so it is worth reviewing the main lessons learned from the above case – the BDO Legal Jókay Law Office warns.
