We wrap it, drink it, cook it: we choose quality wines for Christmas
At Christmas, wine is placed on every second table, even several types, selected according to taste and the menu. In such cases, we like to eat something special next to the festive table, and we even add something that we would drink to dishes made with wine. And wine given as a gift is still popular, but we can’t settle for just anything – Hilltop’s online survey reveals.
The tinkling of wine glasses harmonizes best with the sound of Christmas bells, according to Hilltop’s research, in which half of the respondents clearly preferred wine, and 37.5 percent preferred a mixture of wine and other drinks. Since fish is usually not missing from the table laid on Christmas Eve, it is no wonder that 50 percent of the respondents prefer white wines at this time, but in the spirit of conscious wine consumption, the same number prepare items suitable for various courses. According to the majority (62.5%), the special occasion calls for special wines, so they are happy to sacrifice on them on the holiday of love, while the rest take out well-established favorites and fearfully guarded treasures for a toast, in the same proportion (18.8%).
