The Italians throw food out even during the crisis
Saving was the slogan during the holiday season in Italy, except for the food thrown out: 1.3 billion worth of food landed in trash in Italy.
A total of 440 tons of food ended up in the bins, which is 20 percent of the food bought for Christmas, and was only two percent less than in the previous year. This means that every Italian family threw out more than fifty euros worth food. 43 percent was meat, dairy products and eggs, 22 percent was bread, fruit and vegetables – reports MTI.
