Everyone is present in the food industry, from small to large
The domestic sale of local products produced on domestic land and the food made from them contributes to the economic development of our environment and to livable, sustainable rural life – said Dr. Márton Nobilis, State Secretary responsible for the food industry and trade policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the Tokaj-Hegyalja treasures conference, Friday, in Tokaj.
The state secretary explained that the government has established a national quality system. The main goal of the Excellent Quality Food trademark system is exceptionally high quality food
distinguishing it from other products on the market.
Dr. Márton Nobilis drew attention to the fact that by purchasing local products, on the one hand, we significantly shorten the sales chain, and on the other hand, we help rural producers get to the market quickly
This is called a short food supply chain. Local products represent excellent quality, as local producers usually pay attention to the production processes, the selection of raw materials and the observance of quality standards of production. Such products are typically fresh, natural and tasty, as local producers often work with traditional methods and use regional ingredients.
The state secretary also touched on the fact that in terms of the use of local products, in addition to private households, caterers and caterers also represent a significant customer market.
Thanks to a legal regulation, from January 1, 2023, at least 80% of the total value of purchased products must come from products purchased in the short supply chain of public catering, or from local food products. While the government builds and supports the Champions of the Hungarian Food Industry, small and local producers also have a huge opportunity, responsibility and role – he concluded.
