The Agrarian Chamber tests the drought monitoring system
The complex water scarcity forecasting system established by the National Water Directorate General (OVF) is a major step forward in the fight against drought. The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) will be involved in the testing of system in the coming months before its launch in 2019.
According to the communication of the Agrarian Chamber of Commerce sent to MTI, OVF started to set up the system in 2016, installing 16 observation stations for the most waterless areas in the Great Plain, and made the data available online.
Last year, six more stations were installed, and this year it will be expanded by another 24 stations. At the beginning of the 2019 irrigation season, a network of nearly 140-150 stations to be set up. It is planned to set up a network covering the entire country. (MTI)
