In April, retail sales in the Czech Republic increased by 5.3 percent
In April, the retail turnover in the Czech Republic rose by 5.3 percent compared to a year earlier, after the 5.8 percent increase in March, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Prague.
Market experts explain the slowdown in the growth rate by the fact that the March data were influenced by the Easter holidays.
“Retail turnover has been increasing for the fifth month now, and this affects both food products and manufactured goods. Interest in internet parcel delivery services is still very significant”
Jana Gotvaldová, director of the statistical office, told journalists at a press conference.
In April, the turnover of manufactured goods increased by 7.1 percent, that of fuel by 3.9 percent, and that of food by 3.6 percent.
