AM: initiatives against food waste are successful in Hungary
Despite the expansion of consumption, the initiatives against food waste in Hungary are also successful, said the State Secretary for Food Chain Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) at a press conference on the occasion of World Food Waste Day in Budapest on Wednesday.
Erdős Norbert, citing data from the National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nébih), welcomed the fact that the amount of domestic waste per capita fell from 68 kilograms to 65 kilograms between 2016 and 2019. This is still significant, but the EU average is even higher, at over 70 kilograms and that of the richest Member States at 130 kilograms. (MTI)
