Favorable tax conditions, decreasing administrative burdens and an operating environment in line with 21st century expectations are provided for primary producers by the law on family farms adopted by the Parliament on Tuesday, Minister of Agriculture Nagy István said after the parliamentary vote.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), the head of the ministry drew attention to the fact that the aim of the new legislation is to strengthen family farms, support generational change and encourage cooperation between producers. From 1 January 2021, 290 thousand primary producers and 83 thousand producers working on family farms, which provide the backbone of the domestic food economy, can choose between three forms of operation, so they can remain primary producers, form a family farm of primary producers or a family agricultural company.
