Chamber of Agriculture: there will be poor apple harvest and strong demand
Hungarian apple growers expect strong demand, as this year’s harvest is expected to be lower than the 600-650 thousand-tonne multiannual average. It will be about 450-500 thousand tonnes – the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) told MTI on Friday.
From the harvest, almost 100,000 to 150,000 tons of apples will become edible, while about 350,000 tons of apples will go to the processing industry.
Domestic yields will become final in the fall, revealing how much the higher prices will compensate the losses, and will give producers a chance to start production safely in 2020 – he added. (MTI)
