Despite the economic recession, international trade fair SIAL attracts participants lie a magnet: a few months before opening 80 percent of the floor surface has been sold. There will be 150 new exhibitors from 80 countries at the joint SIAL and IN-FOOD trade fairs. On the French market hyper- and supermarkets managed to grow by 2.3 percent in 2009. However, recession changed consumer behaviour in France too. Meanwhile, manufacturers tried to fight the crisis with investments and innovation. SIAL’s goal is to provide a platform for companies to introduce their innovation strategies. SIAL’s communication plan targets all 80 participating countries, it involves 40 countries and 20 languages, cooperating with 200 trade magazines – out of which 30 are SIAL d’Or partners too – one of these is Trade magazin. Every second year these exclusive partners select 1 innovation from 9 categories to compete with 270 products internationally – this year in May.
