Egg prices remain lower than a year ago
According to data from the European Commission, the packing point price of table eggs in the EU was 212 euros/100 kilograms in the first forty-three weeks of 2024, which decreased by 10 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to the data of AKI PÁIR, the packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from cage keeping in Hungary was HUF 48.44/piece in the first forty-three weeks of 2024, which was 16.9 percent lower than the average price of the same period in 2023. The packing point price of boxed eggs in size class M decreased by 14.9 percent to HUF 51.01/piece, and that of boxed eggs in size class L decreased by 14.5 percent to HUF 60.47/piece. The packing point price of M-tray eggs decreased by 19.5 percent to HUF 43.42/piece, and that of L-tray eggs decreased by 19.9 percent to HUF 47.29/piece. The packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from deep-laying was HUF 57.20/piece in the first forty-three weeks of 2024, which is 12.2 percent lower than the average price for the same period of 2023.
