Germany's Retailers are optimistic
According to Reuters informations, last week Germans spent 1% more, 4.7 billion euros for Christmas presents. High-quality toys as well as books, CDs and DVDs were among the most bought items.
Germany's
retail industry is expecting Christmas sales to rise in the remaining
two weeks until Christmas, and retailers are satisfied with the
second week of sales, a survey conducted by trade group HDE showed.
"The
retailers were satisfied with the second Advent week and yesterday's
Saturday," said HDE's spokesman Hubertus Pellengahr said in a
statement.
"Retail companies are expecting
higher sales for the coming two weeks as Christmas approaches,"
he added.
