One of the leading players in the Hungarian baking industry is preparing for the largest investment in its history
One of the leading players in the Hungarian baking industry, Félegyházi Pékség, is preparing for the largest investment in its history. As part of the nearly HUF 10 billion green field investment, an impressive warehouse, a multi-line production area, as well as an automated and robotic refrigerated packaging unit and a frozen warehouse with 5,000 pallets will be located, which will become the company’s number one logistics center. The new facility will create around 200 new jobs in Kiskunfélegyháza.
Zoltán Magyar, the operational manager of Félegyházi Pékség, emphasized to mfor.hu that the purpose of the investment is to strengthen the excellent quality of domestic bakery products and to increase Hungarian exports. Although Hungary has quality products, it still imports more than it exports. The aim of the 100% Hungarian-owned, two-generation family business is to change this and strengthen its achievements in the domestic market and abroad.
Félegyházi Pékség, which has a 10 percent share of the HUF 280 billion turnover of the Hungarian baking industry, reached HUF 30 billion in revenue in 2023. The company has grown from 20 people at the start to more than 1,400 employees and produces roughly 25 million products a month, including breads, cookies, rolls, puff pastries, doughnuts, confections and sandwiches.
Félegyházi Pékség is in contact with more than 240 suppliers, mostly Hungarian companies and local producers. Last year, 22,000 tons of flour, nearly 2,000 tons of margarine and 580 tons of yeast were used to produce their products. At Easter, they made more than 20,000 cakes by hand in one week, while their cold kitchen department produces more than 3.3 million sandwiches for sample store customers every year. 90 percent of their machine lines operate with Siemens control, which ensures efficient and high-quality production.
