The financial security of the event industry may remain questionable even after the pandemic
The coronavirus pandemic caused the biggest damage perhaps to the event industry. The worst situation is with the staff of the event organizing agencies: there were almost no people whose income would not have decreased, says the research of the Budapest Metropolitan University (METU). The survey reflects the views of more than 400 respondents working in the market and learning the profession about the future of the sector and the effects of the pandemic. According to those working in the event industry, the practice of pre-financing events for large companies by event companies cannot be maintained.
Restrictions on events are still in place in Hungary: only outdoor events can be held until August 15, but it is not possible to hold a concert at an outdoor event, and in the case of a seated audience, three empty chairs must be left between each guest. In addition, it is not clear to what extent the regulations and customs related to the events will change as the pandemic situation has passed. All this can also raise questions in the field of event planning for the future.
