The Balaton Association will be the conscience of Balaton
The Balaton Association (BSZ), which brings together local governments, must be the conscience of Lake Balaton – said the Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development at the organization’s general meeting on Friday in Vonyarcvashegy, where the application for membership was unanimously approved.
Tibor Navracsics reported on his personal connection to the region and praised the BSZ’s more than one hundred-year history. He pointed out that it must continue to operate as a militant civil organization when it comes to the protection and development of Lake Balaton. He added that this also means protecting the living conditions of those living in the region.
The general meeting of the BSZ, which brings together 81 members, made a positive decision on the application for membership of nine new settlements and also voted for Péter Princzinger, the managing director of VisitBalaton365, to become a membership member.
The BSZ renewed and extended its cooperation agreement with the Hungarian Tourism Agency and the Balaton Wine Region Council, as well as a new cooperation agreement with the recently opened destination management office VisitBalaton365.
Róbert Pali, the president of the BSZ, reported on this year’s work plan and the programs organized by the association, among which the Balaton Knowledge Archive conference series is a novelty. At this event, the leaders of the region can share their experiences with each other, looking for solutions to the problems of the region together, and they will receive first-hand information on current topics. The next event, on May 21 in Balatonakarattya, will discuss the “whitening” of tourism and the anomalies of community coexistence on Lake Balaton.
