ALDI customers collected 210 tons of donations for charity
ALDI also participated in numerous charity campaigns in 2024, and, involving its customers, collected a record amount of donations for those in need in collaboration with several organizations at the end of the year. In cooperation with the Food Bank, customers were able to donate non-perishable food to those in disadvantaged situations, while it supported the work of animal protection organizations with the pet food collected together with the Ant Community. As a result of the two campaigns, more donations were collected than ever before, a total of 210 tons.
ALDI is committed to social responsibility, two of the most important pillars of which are environmental awareness and social sensitivity. The supermarket chain has been carrying out significant social work for years through fundraising and charitable activities, paying special attention to supporting people living in disadvantaged situations and animals in shelters, involving its customers.
In 2024, ALDI participated in the Hungarian Food Bank Association’s “Christmas Fundraising” program for the seventh time. Between November 15 and 17 this year, the chain’s customers had the opportunity to hand over their non-perishable food donations consisting of locally purchased products to the Food Bank’s employees. From the 171 tons of non-perishable food collected in ALDI stores, the Association’s employees and volunteers put together 34,273 food packages, which were delivered to those in need by the Association’s local partner organizations. Nearly half of the donations collected in the national campaign organized by the Food Bank were handed over by ALDI customers.
The company organized a joint pet food collection with the Ant Community for the third time during the New Year’s Eve period, from December 29, 2024 to January 5, 2025. The Ant Community has been helping shelters and animal protection organizations since 2010, and primarily provides material assistance. During the campaign, ALDI customers were able to support shelters and animal protection associations with dog and cat food available in the store’s permanent range. ALDI supplemented the 72 pallets of donations collected by customers with an additional 3.5 tons of product donations from its own resources. As a result, ALDI and its customers supported animal shelters and animal rescue organizations in difficult situations in various parts of the country with a total of 40 tons of pet food in January. During the pet food collection, twice as many donations were collected compared to last year, with which they were able to help approximately 6,800 shelter animals.
ALDI is facilitating the fundraising process with a number of measures in order to increase the amount of support provided to those in need year after year, together with its customers.
