The number of conferences halved in the first part of 2009
According to the compilation of the Hungarian Convention Bureau; during the first half of this year, 118 international conferences were held in Hungary. This is a 51 percent decline, compared to the same period of 2008.
More than 24 thousand people attended on the conferences. The average number of participants were 207 person, the average duration of the events were 3.4 days.
Most of the events were held in March and June. The largest decrease was in February, when 78 percent less events were organized compared to the previous year.
Most of the conferences (79.7 percent) were held in hotels, 10.2 percent in the Congress center and, 3.4 percent at universities or other educational institutions and a further 6.8 percent was held at other locations – reports Privátbankár.hu.
