Weak fruit production is expected due to spring frosts
The spring frosts mostly damaged the apricot, and it is estimated that due to the significant sprout damages, only relatively weak yields of between 10 and 20,000 tonnes can be expected this year – the chairman of the fruit committee of the FruitVeb Hungarian Vegetables and Fruit Interprofessional Organization and Product Council told.
Apáti Ferenc said that in previous years 40,000 tons of apricot crops were achieved, but in 2012, for example, only 10,000 tons were harvested, due to frost damage occurred during the spring. (MTI, tozsdeforum.hu)
