Retail in Europe: Central and Eastern Europe is catching up
GfK has made a study on European retail trade.
GfK has conducted a comprehensive analysis of the retail trade in 32 European countries, which analyzes the purchasing power, the retail share of private consumption of households, inflation, the productivity of the sales area, and forecasts for the 2017 sales.
There is an outstanding growth in Central and Eastern Europe in buying power in 2016. The decline in unemployment and a slight increase in income levels have a positive impact on many areas. In the EU-28, the average per capita disposable income in 2016 was 16,153 euros, which is a 0.7 percent (nominal) increase over the previous year.
