Employment in the euro area increased more than expected

Employment in the euro area increased more than expected in the first quarter, compared to a year before – according to data reported by the European Union Statistical Office (Eurostat) on Wednesday.

In the first quarter of this year, the number of employees in the euro area’s 19 member states increased by 1.3 percent compared to the same period oflast year, as did in the last quarter of 2018. Analysts expected a lower 1.2 percent increase. (MTI)
